Alcohol and Drug Services

Substance abuse issues affect individuals of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds. The staff at Life Help realize that the lives of many individuals are affected by just one person’s misuse of alcohol or drugs. The emotional and financial drain these disorders can have on an individual and all of those around him or her are immeasurable. Life Help offers both residential and outpatient services, in conjunction with prevention programs, to help individuals recover from alcoholism or drug addiction.

Denton Center: Located in Greenwood, Denton House is a 45-day residential facility for adult men and women with alcohol or drug problems. The program is designed to help the individual to arrest his or her problem and to develop the necessary coping skills for functioning independently, while maintaining sobriety. Physician assisted detox, individual and group therapy, and educational classes are just a few of the services offered at the facility. Upon completion of the program, individuals participate in a weekly aftercare meeting sponsored by Denton House or individuals are assisted with referral to other providers including secondary treatment facilities. The Denton Center staff recognizes that many individuals with substance abuse issues also have other mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Any individual suspected of having additional mental health issues is referred to the main office for evaluation and treatment.

The Denton Center also has an affiliation with the Fourth District Drug Court. A designated staff member attends drug court sessions on a weekly basis to coordinate referrals to the Denton House, as well as, to make treatment recommendations to the drug court team.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP): The IOP program is a 15 week program designed to help individuals that are employed and not in need of detox. This includes assessment and treatment for DUI offenders. Individuals attend group meeting three nights per week for approximately three hours per group. The therapeutic approach is a holistic one, encouraging each individual to examine all areas of life and how it relates to and affects the problem of addiction. Family members or other significant individuals are encouraged to attend the weekly family meeting.

DUI Assessment: This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals whose driving has been impaired by drugs and alcohol.
Dual Diagnosis: For individuals who have both mental health disorders and chemical dependency issues, treatment plans are designed to assist the individual in addressing both issues. This dual approach maximizes the individual’s ability to stay in recovery.

Prevention-Education Services: The primary goal of the prevention programs is to educate the community at large about the risks and consequences of chemical dependency. Utilizing several evidenced-based programs, staff members educate children, adults, and employers about symptoms, progression of the disorder, and implications for all involved.
