Philosophy

Region IV believes that a successful program is based on the following philosophical tenets:
* Alcoholism and drug addictions are illnesses and are treatable.
* Substance abuse problems are spread throughout every sub-group of the population and every socio-economic category.
* A comprehensive program for substance abuse must be planned and operated to meet the specific needs of the area's population. It should be both visible and accessible to all persons without regard to age, race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, socio-economic level or other individual characteristics.
* A variety of treatment methods and approaches must be used and the programs must be flexible in order to meet the service needs of each client.
* Continuity of care is essential to an effective alcohol and drug services program.
* A total needs approach is necessary in the delivery of services to both client and his/her family.

Region IV believes in a holistic approach to treatment. The most effective treatment for one individual might not be appropriate for another; therefore, an effective treatment adopts a multi-disciplinary/multi-modal approach particularly suited to the individual needs of the client. At Region IV, one or more of the following therapeutic modalities are available:
* Group Therapy
* 12-step Facilitation
* Relapse Prevention
* Individual Counseling
* Family Therapy
* Motivational Interviewing

At Region IV, treatment is geared toward enhancing the integrity and dignity of the individual. The focus of treatment is not solely on the presenting syndrome of chemical abuse, but also on the basic interpersonal or communication difficulties that have resulted in unsatisfied emotional needs. Emphasis on the individual choice and responsibility and reflected through a problem solving method.

The primary and priority service area includes the four Northeast Mississippi counties of Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, and Tishomingo. However, Region IV also services individuals from other counties in Mississippi and individuals from out of state.

Region IV Services:
* Primary Residential Treatment
* Transitional Residential Treatment
* Outpatient Counseling
* DUI Diagnostic Assessment
* Aftercare/Outreach
* Urine Analysis
* Prevention

Region IV Prevention Services offer community drug related prevention programs to schools and other organizations. Prevention services teach a host of topics such as Merchant Trainings on the laws and penalties of selling alcohol and tobacco to minors, how to spot precursors to manufacture methamphetamine and prescription drug abuse.

Prevention Services also provide school and community based youth drug prevention curriculums. The programs are science based which means they are proven to work with all races and ethnicities. As well as proven to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. The exciting benefit of the programs are they do not offer drug education but educate youth on skills that help youth be more successful in resisting drugs and build skills needed for the rest of their lives. Some examples of lessons covered are building self esteem, good decision making skills, coping with anxiety, conflict resolution, just to name a few.
